Itโ€™s amazing to think that these beautiful pieces of art were worn as jewelry, and actually were held against the skin of an Egyptian princess. Most likely they were made to fit her perfectly, through that we have the ghost of her body and shape present with us today. The โ€œImmortality of Writersโ€ is an example of Sebayt (๐“‹ด๐“ƒ€๐“‡ผ๐“„ฟ๐“‡‹๐“‡‹๐“๐“›) text which are written teaching, instructions, guidance for students and others, a kin to self help guides today. The Immortality of Writers is an Ancient Egyptian wisdom text likely to have been used as an instructional work in schools. It is recorded on the verso side of the Chester Beatty IV papyrus (BM 10684) held in the British Museum. The scribe advises that writings of authors provide a more sure immortality than fine tombs.The text is dated to the transition period between the 19th Dynasty and the 20th Dynasty. Shabty of Lady Sati, ca. 1390-1352 B.C.E. Faience, 10 1/4 ร— 3 1/2 ร— 2 1/4 in. (26 ร— 8.9 ร— 5.7 cm). Nubians brought homage to Pharaoh from the south, as depicted on this section of a tomb wall. Tomb of Sobekhotep (Sobek is pleased) at Thebes is the source of this image. It dates back to Thutmoses IV's reign. Reduce, reuse, recycle- the motto of an Ancient Egyptian Builder. This painted relief block was used in the construction of Ramesses IV's mortuary temple it originally came from another building. The horses pulling the royal chariot are shown trampling over western Asian soldiers in the relief, signifying the foreigners' defeat at the hands of the Egyptian pharaoh. This and another battle scene fragment were both discovered during the reign of Ramesses II and subsequently dated to that era. However, new research into the statues' iconography and aesthetics has led scholars to redate them to the time of Amenhotep II. This re-dating suggests that monumental battle scenes started appearing as part of a temple's exterior decorative scheme around the middle of the Eighteenth Dynasty. #History #ancientegyptian #ancientEgypt #Egyptology #ancientegyptblog #egyptianart Ring made of gold foil folded around wire, with a turquoise green glazed composition scarab serving as the bezel. The swivelling mechanism is a length of gold wire that is wound around one end of the shank, threaded through the scarab's pierced length, and wound around the other end of the shank. Queen Hatshepsut's prenomen or throne name (Maโ€™at-Ka-Ra ๐“‡ณ๐“ฆ๐“‚“, truth is the ka[soul] of Ra or "spirit of harmony and truth") is inscribed on the scarab, which is set in a gold mount and has finely marked details on its back. Here we have another sketch, we can see the artist at work, thinking, evaluating and then making changes. This is obviously a practice piece, possibly a training piece, maybe a more advanced artist was helping a newer one, we donโ€™t know. I absolutely love sketches from Ancient Egypt. Here we have a lively hunting scene, of an unidentified Ramesside pharaoh. He is represented symbolically slaying the enemies of Egypt in the form of a lion. The hieratic text reads: "The slaughter of every foreign land, the Pharaohโ€”may he live, prosper, and be healthy."
